Webmaster's notes:
All these selections were originally released on La Guitarra Romantica: Llobet, Pujol, Tárrega (1991). The complete album is represented on this disc.
The Tárrega pieces were all recorded for the "Music of Spain" series back in 1983/1984 except for the "Mazurca in G". They would have likely ended up on the "Music of Spain, vol. 6" that never materialized. The remaining pieces were recorded in 1990. It is very likely that these later recordings were meant to be part of "Music of Spain, vol. 6" which is likely why they have been included in this "Music of Spain" box set.

Webmaster's notes:
All these selections were originally released on ¡Guitarra! The Guitar in Spain (1985). The complete first LP of the double LP original album is represented on this disc.
Most of the early period pieces on the 2 disc LP on the ¡Guitarra! The Guitar in Spain had already been recorded earlier by Mr. Bream as a part of Music of Spain, vol. 1 . These earlier recordings of early music (represented on disc 1 of this box set) had been recorded on a lute. The lute was played in the rest of Europe during the Renaissance and Baroque periods but the instrument never appeared to have a significant presence in Spain. Julian Bream decided that it would be significantly more appropriate if these early period pieces were played and re-recorded on their intended instrument.

Webmaster's notes:
All these selections were originally released onMusic of Spain, vol. 8-Joaquín Rodrigo: Last of the Spanish Romantics (1984)
except for the "Fantasía Para Un Gentilhombre" which was released after the "Music of Spain" period in 1988 on an album called Guitar Concertos: Brouwer and Rodrigo.
The "Concierto de Aranjuez" was recorded twice before this 1984 release. First on the Rodrigo, Vivaldi, Britten (1963) and second on Rodrigo and Berkeley (1975). Additionally, he recorded the concerto a fourth time nearly 10 years after this 1984 release on To the Edge of Dream: Rodrigo, Takemitsu, Arnold (1993). The first Rodrigo pieces that Bream ever recorded were also not included in the box set. "En los Trigales" from The Art of Julian Bream (1960).
